Help Provide Fresh Food for our Neighbors in Need
Get Fresh at the Minneapolis Farmers Market with Second Harvest Heartland. Whether you donate an extra bag of food or volunteer with us, you'll make a huge impact on the lives of so many children, working parents or seniors who are in need of a little extra help putting food on the table.
Two Easy Ways to get Involved
Give Food
Just purchase an extra bag of food from your favorite Minneapolis Farmers Market vendor on Sunday's from July 7 - October 27 and let them know it's for Second Harvest Heartland.
We'll work with the vendors to get the food collected and sent out into the community through our network of food shelves and other community programs.
Give Time
We are looking for energetic, outgoing volunteers excited about the opportunity to promote the program to shoppers and support our vendor partners. Volunteers focus on shopper outreach by educating shoppers about the farmers market program, encouraging them to purchase extra produce to donate at our market booth and receipting donations. They also provide support to vendors as they receive shoppers' donations.
Morning volunteers greet vendors, set up the Second Harvest Heartland booth and place food collection boxes throughout the market. Afternoon volunteers will box and palletize food donations, and load the Second Harvest Heartland truck.
There will be volunteer shifts at the Minneapolis Farmers Market every Sunday 8:30am - 11:30am and 12:00pm - 2:30 pm, July 7 to the end of October; there are plenty of opportunities for you to help.
